Objective: The social participation of people with disabilities in rural regions of Georgia, especially in the Baghdati municipality, is strengthened lastingly.

Target groups: Children with disabilities, beneficiaries’ guardians, staff, volunteers, local government and other stakeholders

Planned activities

  • Construction and encompassing equipment of a new social inclusion center (SIC) for 30 children with disabilities in the village of Dimi in the Baghdati municipality
  • Employment of at least six new staff members incl. teachers, teaching assistants, a cook, and a driver
  • Purchase of an adapted minivan for safe daily transportation of the beneficiaries
  • Grand opening of the center with the local PwD community as well as local government, Social Service Agency, media, and charity representatives
  • 30 public awareness-raising meetings to inform the local population about the new center, possibilities to cooperate / volunteer, its PwD services, as well as its community offers such as multi-generation activities
  • Operation of multi-generation activities incl. reading, gardening, food education, craft and art sessions to connect with and engage the local population, especially elderly
  • At least 12 joint activities with schools, kindergartens, and NGOs to build a fundament for cooperation and more inclusive education in the Baghdati municipality
  • Organization of a festive open-house day at the end of the project for beneficiaries, donors, stakeholders, and the overall public

Expected results:

  • Fully equipped and operating social inclusion center for 30 children with disabilities in the Baghdati municipality
  • Engagement of six full-time workers and eight senior volunteers at the SIC
  • Interaction with about 500 members of the local population throughout awareness-raising and information activities 
  • The fundament for the further development of inclusive education and services in Baghdati thanks to fruitful stakeholders and potential partner meetings
