Objective: Re-opening of four daycare centers for people with disabilities in regional areas of Georgia in September 2020 and the safe continuation of all pre-pandemic services beyond the end of the project.

Target groups: Children and adults with disabilities, beneficiaries’ parents, local governments, and other stakeholders

Achieved results:

  • Successful re-opening of EDEC’s four day care centers for people with disabilities after their mandatory closure during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Equipment of all centers with hygienic products (facemasks, sanitizers, etc.), improved sanitary installations and additional cleaning staff to ensure the compliance with the government’s new COVID-19 caused hygienic requirements
  • Step-by-step re-introduction of all pre-pandemic therapy services (in-person and online if needed)
  • Insurance of pre-pandemic beneficiary numbers in all four centers (74 in total)
  • Intensive training of staff, beneficiaries and parents in the importance of hygienic and safety rules to prevent the further spread of the novel coronavirus 
  • Organisation of numerous awareness raising and fundraising events with local government, Social Service Agency, private sector, media, charity, and church representatives
