A round table on rights-based approaches in social services was held

On November 3, 2022, a round table meeting was held in Tbilisi, at the “Iota Hotel”, within the framework of the project: “Learning from friends – professional exchange on the work with people with disabilities”,
The purpose of the meeting is to share the knowledge and best practices gained in the study visit on rights-based social services.
The chairperson of the board of the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC), project participants, and an expert who will speak on the topic – “Rights-based approaches in social services” took part in the meeting.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Georgia Andrews Kalindra, representatives of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee of the Parliament, the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, the Committee of Legal Affairs, the Office of the Public Defender, the Ministry of IDPs from the Occupied Territories of Georgia, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the service provider in Georgia and disability rights organizations and community representatives also were invited to the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, there was a discussion about the challenges we have in social services in accordance with rights-based approaches.
The meeting was within the framework of the project “Learning from friends – professional exchange on the work with people with disabilities”, which is funded by the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Georgia, from the funds of the Lithuanian Development Cooperation Program. The project is implemented by the Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC).
