Today was a very important and emotional day for the organization “Habitat for Equality Achievements and Development”.
The summarizing event of the project “Needs-Based and Development-Oriented Day
Center and Therapy Service for Persons with Disabilities” and a grand opening of the
Social Inclusion Center building in the village of Zeda Dimi, Nergeeti community,
Baghdati was held, which will provide day center services to persons with disabilities
aged 18 and over.
The Social Inclusion Center is called “Altera.” The name “Altera” means “other” in Latin
and symbolically expresses the center’s aspiration — to offer people other opportunities,
other paths, and other perspectives, where each person has a place and meaning.
The event was attended by the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Georgia, Mr. Veselin Valkanov,
together with representatives of the Embassy. Representatives of local self-government,
LEPL – State Care and Victims of Trafficking, Victim Assistance Agency, educational, local
non-governmental and business organizations. People who care about the well-being of
children and people with disabilities and are our supporters were also invited to the
event.
At the end of the event, service users of the Baghdati Day Care Center for Children with
Disabilities “Dimna” were presented with New Year’s gifts, with the support of Credo
Bank employees, and the local government presented them with sweets.
After the official part of the event, we hosted the guests with Baia’s Wine and “Rafaelo”
cake, which they donated free of charge.
The event was held within the framework of the project “Needs-based and development-
oriented day care and therapy environment for people with disabilities”, the project is
funded with the financial support of the Bulgarian Development Fund, which is
implemented by the organization Habitat for Humanity and Development.
