Our mission is: To realize equal opportunities and rights of children and adults, to support their social and economic inclusion, to create a healthy environment for promoting independent living, to develop services tailored to needs and interests.
“Habitat for Equality, Achievements and Development” was established as an independent organization on May 16, 2022 by the “Education Development and Employment Center”, although its activities were started and administered within the framework of the Child Protection Program, one of the program areas of the “Education Development and Employment Center” since 2008 and was administering 4 Day Care Centers for children and persons with disabilities.
The first Day Care Center, which offered individual, needs-based services to children with disabilities and helped strengthen their families, was established by the “Education Development and Employment Center” in Kutaisi (Imereti) in December 2008. Already one year alter, Day Care Centers were opened in Terjola (Imereti) and Samtredia (Imereti). In 2017, the working area was expanded and the Day Care Center for children and adults in East Georgia, Saguramo (North of Tbilisi), was established. Observing ongoing needs, especially in the rural regions, leads to the decision of establishing two further Day Care Centers based Baghdati (Imereti), one for children, which started operating in 2023 and one for adults, which is planned to open soon.
Many years of experience in the administration of social services and the scope of the “Education Development and Employment Center” led to the decision to create an independent organization that will continue to manage and develop the social services administered by the organization. HEAD was born. These days, HEAD operates Day Care Centers and Therapy Service Centers, is moreover running (inter)national projects to ensure service development, awareness raising, and advocacy work. Passion and engagement lead HEADs work and is geared to its vision: A society, where all people with different needs and abilities enjoy equality, solidarity and inclusion. For a life in dignity. For all.
